Weird Observation on my P/S belt

I noticed there are little specs of liquid on my P/S belt, the outer lay facing up. The specs go all along the belt and are only on the belt top surface and not anywhere else. I wipe them off (too small to see color) and again they reappear after driving. I looked really good to try and find the source but cant find anything. Anyone have this before?

Touch the spots with your finger and taste them. You should be able to tell between oil and coolant. Once you determine what it is, you should be able to isolate the source. Could be the water pump, MOP or whatever spraying fluid on the belt.

Not usually when they are tiny specks. Tasting will let you know, although you might have a surprise reaction to the flavor.

I wiped the areas with a clean white towel first thing and you can't tell. Tried tasting it too but the specs are so tiny you cant taste anything. Odd, they are nowhere else. Everything around the area is dry. I thought maybe the belt was leaching out when it got hot, but only a thought. Belt is about a year old.

possibility that w/p is going out and the liquid is coolant drippin from the weep hole on the bottom of the w/p and onto the belt. that would explain why its only on the top

Is there any evidence of fluids being slung on to the underside of your hood?

Well, even with a little speck, Type F transmission fluid tastes like total ***. Check around the water pump.

Looks like it must be coming from the w/p after all. The belt is directly below the fan pulley/fan attachment. Residual coolant must be leaking out the end of the w/p shaft and slowly seeping between the fan/pulley mated surfaces. Funny, w/p weep hole is dry. I'll wait to weather cools down to change it--too freakin hot here now. Its my 10AE and I rarely drive it. Thanks for the inputs.

Well, you want to be sure first before you start throwing money at it. Drive it around real good and let it cool off. You'll typically see where the coolant dried up around and under the weep hole.

Haha, I got a good laugh out of that.

The only thing I think that tastes worse than Type F is Dot 3 brake fluid.
