Weird noise from behind.....

When I take off my feet off the gas and start decelerating, I hear this whining noise from behind my car. Anyone know what that is?

i do have weird noise in rear too, i suspect rear wheel bearings or differential....
one thing i found yesterday, it makes that sound when i go straight and to left, but turning right would eliminate it...

I've got the noise in my 86. I think it's in my transmission, because it stops when I push in the clutch. I guess it could be the cluth, driveshaft, or differential too.

I'd be looking at the rear driveshaft U joints, diff (including when was the last time you changed the gear lube?), and rear bearings in that order.

if you push the clutch in and it goes away and the car is still moving then it can't be the rear differential or driveshaft, because those parts are still moving..it must be somehting in your transmission....i just replaced the rear passenger side wheel bearing in my car, becasue i had a bad rumble coming from that side of the car, it still makes that noise and i think iam going to have to replace the pumpkin, now i have heard that the turbo differential is geared a little lower than the n/a's i drive a n/a's and would it help my 1/4 mile times if i replaced it with the turbo differential? also another question do all turbo differential have limited slip?
