Weird "NEW" clutch sound ? What went wrong?

Thanks in advance for any ideas. Installed a new clutch, brand new, pilot bearing, release bearing, pressure plate, disk, resurfaced fly wheel, and about a week later, strange noise. After warming up, always back out of space, no noise, then when I start out in gear, 1st, I hear a noise like a ball bearing rolling around in a metal pan. Shift into second, and when I relase the clutch pedal, same noise.

Now, weird thing is that as it gets warmer from 5-10 minutes of driving, noise is not as noticeable. Happens in every gear, but reverse. Also, sometimes the noise just disappears for a minute of two, then it comes back as quick as it left.

I know I have to drop tranny and do it again, but money is tight, and wondering if someone has had same issue, and any idea. Searched, and I know it could be anything, but does a broken damper spring seem possible?

Sorry for the long post, just trying to provide as much info as I could.

Thank you.

Did you change the tranny fluid when you did this?

After I did my clutch I changed the fluid to valvoline 75w90 synthetic, and I have a noisy transmission now. I think the weight isn't heavy enough.

**** Valvoline. I plan on using Redline when I change it.

Yes sir, I did change the fluid. Replaced with 90 weight. The sound is definetly coming from the clutch area. Maybe I didn't grease the release bearing enough. Its a metal sound. Really strange.

Does it go away as RPM's go up or down?

Mine goes away once I let off the throttle and at/above 3k RPM.

I'm attributing it to the gear oil. I greased my release bearing and pilot bearing before install, and they were both new. Torqued down all bolts to spec, as well... No drivability issues here, though.

I'm also slightly attributing it to the 155k miles on the tranny...

When the noise goes away, it is at any point, any gear, any rpm. Nothing consistent. I guess I will just go in blind, and hope for the best. Thank you spot skater for answering.

How about when you try it in neutral at idle. Any difference when the clutch is in, no noise, or pedal up and noise comes back? If this is the case, maybe a trans bearing. Did you have the trans just hanging on the mainshaft during installation?
Just a thought.

Thanks turbo for the help. I had the transmission on a tranny jack all the time. The only noise I hear is release bearing when clutch not engaged, pedal up, pedal down, noise goes away. But the bearing noise is a whirling, not the same as when in gear and driving. I torqued everything to specs, but I swear it sounds like a bolt came out and is spinning around when I'm driving, and maybe the noise goes away cause it hangs up somewhere. I hope I didn't screw up the new clutch, new to rx's, and so far, driving me nuts already, but am damn glad to be here.

I changed the seal going to the driveshaft, input shaft bearing, I'll search for that before I disassemble. Is that in the transmission or is it exposed?
