Weird Idle, Cracked pintle cap on fuel injector.

Ok so i recently got a couple of fuel injectors cleaned in preperation for my general mantience before i drive 1500 miles to move to arizona.
My idle over the past few weeks has been slightly (understatment) Erratic.
So just a few minutes ago when i tore off the intake manifolds and got the old fuel injectors out and found that the primary injector on the rear rotor had a cracked pintle cap.
I'm just curious if this could be cause for an erratic idle, also the pintle cap that was cracked had a slight gap inbetween in the actual injector surface and where the cap should fit snugly onto the injector.
not that it's a huge deal to me as these injectors will be sent out to be cleaned, but could this be the culprit? Also i'm 100% positive i had no vac leaks.
Thanks much,
Matt

i think a cracked pintle cap could qualify as a vacuum leak.

Pintle cap cracked or non-existant will have zero effect on running condition of the engine.
It could, however, cause a VERY small vacuum leak at the injector, but not small enough to give extremely bad idle problems.

How are you so certain you don't have vacuum leaks? What method did you use to test this?

lots of time using carb cleaner and also a stethoscope.
Allthough not really too concerned about it anymore. my engine is about 15 minutes away from being reassembled so then i'll be almost positive that the idle problems have ceased since i did quite a bit on her tonight.
Thanks guys,
Matt
