Weird humming noise.....?

I have noticed that when driving my car I get a humming noise from the back, the faster I go the louder it gets. It sounds like it is from outside the car, my tires are perfectly inflated, pretty sure that a stock fuel pump should not be that loud if that is what it is, but I am pretty sure that is not what it is from. Anyone else get this problem or know what it could be and how to fix? Thanks.

No, it is definatly not the exhaust, my exhaust sounds way different, plus I have been in my friends 7 and his does not do it, and he even asked me what it was when he was in mine for the first time. Well.....lets say I am pretty sure it is not exhaust, not totally sure though now that you mention, bah, you people are making me second guess myself...lol....oh well...if no ones thinks it is anything major then I will just live with the loud *** humming, hurts the ears when cruising at 185km on the highway though. :P

It is probably a leak (vacume) look for vacume hoses that are not on their nipples.

If you hear it when the car is in gear but coasting along...(not stepping on the gas) it could be your diff and/or drive shaft. If coasting in neutral and hearing it then it could be your bearings. Worse case its all of the above, unless you can actually pinpoint it, you might have to do some trial and error to solve it. Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice, I will start checking it out and stuff.....it does make the noise all the time, but I have not tried with car in neutral while going, will try that on out. Thanks again.

Could it just be something simple like road noise from your tyres? some types of tyres do make more noise the more they're worn down....

My car is doing it currently too, a loud humming that come from the back, REALLY loud and getting louder the mroe i drive it- it's bad rear wheel bearings, and most places sell them for 60 or 70 bucks PER WHEEL (you need two) but http://thepartsbin.com sells them for 30 bucks a wheel cant beat half price
