Weird hesitation, what would cause this.

well my car would randomly hesitate whille accelerating at any percent throttle and act like it didnt have enough fuel then after a second go like normal. It started doing this right after i changed my fuel lines, and only did it when it was not all the way warmed up. Since i last drove it i changed the tps to a different one and adjusted it to be exactly in spec, and found a vac line i forgot to connect that goes to the pressure regulator solenoiud valve. When I first replaced the lines the idle was wierd so i adjusted my idle mixture and idle speed. But now that i reattached the vacuum line, i reset the idle mixture and idle speed to normal again. I also noticed, the day before i changed the fuel lines, the car seems a little shaky at idle, more than it normally has.

So my assumption is either, replacing the vac line and adjusting the tps will fix the problem, or... my fuel pump is going bad. The filter is only 1500miles old, so i dont think thats what it is.

It's don this hestation at 2k rpm, 3k rpm, 6k rpm. Basically, it would happen at any time, before the engine was warmed up, again i havent had a chance to drive it while cold since doing these changes, do you think i fixed it or is it probably the pump?

Ok it's still doing it, again only when it's not completely warmed up. I just checked my ignition wires and they seemed to be all secure.

Also i notice before the symptoms go away it also has a bad 3800 rpm hesitation, but after it warms up, there isn't a 3800 rpm hesitation. I cleaned and inspeted the ecu ground when i had the uim off as well and it's good.

Any other ideas anyone?

Still doing it, nothing's changed, i cant tell if it's not getting enough fuel or if it's ignition related. Im going to check the plugs asap, what else should i do?

fuel pressure?? what about the injectors.. are they clogging?? are they leaking?? but since you said the fuel pump might be going out then check the pump it might not be holding up pressure to the injectors?? do you have problems starting (cold or hot)????

are those stock fuel lines?? if not then that could be the case....since it might take more pressure (i presume) to have the lines to build up correct fuel pressure....so it drops in pressure causing lean out to the injectors so you might not be getting the right amount of fuel......correct me if im wrong....

I was gonna check the plugs and if theyre fine i'm gonna' change the pump, and i changed all of the fuel lines under the uim. It's possible it could be and injector but i'm not really sure. I'll put some cleaner in the tank too i guess.

Nope the fuel lines are all right.

The plugs were a whitish tan color, and one had a small amount of burnt oil on it.

Well i think it may be the afm, today when i was driving it, it started to lose power at 6200rpm, the acted like it was out of gas/sputtering, then was fine after i held through it.

So gonna' clean the afm tommorow.

I have a 88 rx7 that has a severe problem accelerating over 3000/4000 rpm, It will stay in this range and hunt not gaining any more rpm. When your driving the car it will jerk the crap out of your neck consistently when it hits that 3000/4000 rpm range.

help i love the car but have no idea whats wrong
