Just got the first update from my builder.
The main reason for the rebuild was to have a known quantity and to address the HUGE oil smoke clouds at High RPM decell in gear. The car smoked badly when started after sitting also. The longer it sat the worse the cloud of smoke. But it didnt smoke durrning any other condition. Normal driving, cruising, high rpm shifts, sustained high rpm track drivinig. No smoke, only durring sustained HIGH rpm let off.
Other than that the car ran really well. Started without fail, had plenty of power, boosted well, idled nicely, and had good consistant compression.
Outer oil control rings were in many pieces and completly shot. Also the motor was as i suspeced a questionable rebuild. The housings were resurfaced and not very smooth. The apex seals were pretty worn although the compression was still good.
Both main seals were leaking, one motor mount was completly broken (so that's what all the vibration was about), the CAS was stabbed one tooth off and the wiring harness has been quite the chore to rebuild.
But with how well it ran when pulled im excited to get it back and have everything right and retuned.
