water temp sensor location??

i am looking at aftermarket gauges. i was looking at one that would use an adapter that you put inline with a radiator hose. my question is, where would i put it becuase if its low on coolant it wont be pumping coolant through the system and wont show its overheating when it really is. would the heater-firewall hose work?? plz answer ASAP i was going to order one tonight

Under the intake manifold, there's a coolant hose that comes out of the rear iron, routes through the throttle body, and goes back into the water pump housing.

I'd use the line coming out of the rear iron. Just patch a 'T' fitting into it with a hose and the sender....

oh, and if anyone decides to do this with theirs you will need someway to ground it. i ran a wire from a good solid bolt in the block to the sending unit. works great

Whenever the heater is off there'll be no flow in that hose. This will dramatically slow the response of the gauge. Basically unless the heater's on the guage will be inaccurate. Bad location.
