water temp is high why guy?
well...
There are many things that could cause high water temp.
#1 Maybe your Water Temp Thermostat is worn out and needs a new one.
#2 Your cooling system/radiator might have buildup of mineral deposits and corrosion which could lead to extra heat build-up as well as wearing of your water pump because it will be harder to get water through the system.
#3 your water pump could be wearing out, you may need a new one.
#4 Your actual Temp Gauge could be screwed up, its always good to have an aftermarket gauge to compare to.
#5 if you have an electric fan, it may not be coming on when it is supposed to, requireing some adjustments that depend fully on your fan.

High temp check list – continued.
Worn out fan clutch – it should bite hard up to 4k & maintain ~4k as you rev higher.
Wrong thermostat – the valve under the stat doesn’t close the bypass port..
Wear/erosion in the pump housing. (At 180k mi I had a hole between the inlet & outlet sides)
Small leak you have not found yet.

what year car and where is the gauge going to?
if it's happening at idle it could be the clutch fan. get the car warm and shut it off. then grap the fan and try to spin it. if it spins easily it needs to be replaced. if it doesn't spin much. it's ok. how old is the coolant? thermostat? did you just change it? did you bleed it correctly?
