Giant Pics of my GTUs!
Yo,
Got some pics of my GTUs finally!
Side view:
Sideways view (Check the gloss on the factory paint):
Best pic yet:
GTUs trademark (Look Ma, no Sunroof!):
Sorry about the size, hopefully Vaughnc will resize and rehost 'em for the masses, and maybe I can get in his photo album!! *grin* And yep, factory paint and McQuiers Gold Class wax. I've switched to Zymol, which even makes it shinier!

Yo,
You're having nightmares?! Dude, I'm livin' it!! *grin* Actually, these pics were taken right before Sevenstock, so we had that those rims gleaming. My buddy Dana (Rotary Racer) helped out tons, he's even hosting the pics, AND he took 'em! He'll probably be posting pics of his GTUs soon.
I had the rims powdercoated gloss white, and I don't regret it, even though they are a major pain in the ***. I WILL eventually get some 16" Volks TE37's in white, but in the meantime, the stock rims are very light (15lbs a rim) and fit perfectly. It totally changed the character of the car, from a wannabe 944 to a JDM Pimp Daddy. *grin* First night I went cruising some dumbasses yelled "Ricer!" from their lifted 4 x 4. Talk about an unpaid endorsement! *grin*

RarestRX,
Sweet pics.
To make the photoalbumn, I need pics that capture the feel & soul of the rx-7
Here's some various pics that capture it pretty well.
bullet car:
.
I CAN FLY!!!!!
.
smooth as slik
.
Stormy weather INSIDE.
.
Exotic - oh and the house is nice too.
.
Dust blower
.
.
.
Here's your's tweeked. Good pics, but try to capture how you feel about the car in your next series of pics. Hopefully the above gives you a taste.

Yo,
Thanks to all my peeps for the props! *snicker* The black with the white looks awesome, just check Erik's '91 NA out with the Volks TE37 repli-rims.
The car currently has about 58K miles on it. Interior is cherry, exterior has a few dings, but all in all, very nice. Engine bay is getting to a point where I can't wax anything more. *grin* The car has the original engine, trans, etc. I bought it with 38K miles on it about 2 years ago, and have put about 20K on it. I have a daily driver, and the RX-7 is more of a weekend car. I won't drill any holes in it, and I'm very aware of the rare and special nature of this RX-7.
I always try and cover it when I have to park it outside for long stretches of time. The Mazda Blaze Red paint is /so/ bright red that I think it just loves to oxidize into nothingness.
The only thing I need to do is get a real intake, and get some shocks/springs/swaybars on it. The stock shocks are getting tired, so now I have to figure out what to replace them with.
Thanks again for all the compliments and thanks to Vaughnc for getting them down to reasonable size!

But that stormy weather picture is great, the car looks great w/ the paint color and rims color. Just shades of grey pretty much.
Oh and Vaughnc, any chance of a guesstimate on your archive of FC pictures?

Yo,
Damn! No sunroof and I paid $5900 for the car?! I got ripped!! *snicker* Actually, it's just the opposite, that's why I paid so much: no sunroof!! And a whole bunch of other stuff.
About the rims, they're the stock 16's just powdercoated white. It looks good, but a nightmare to clean. You should see 'em now after the rain, they look like HELL. I'm gonna have to spend some quality time on my butt cleaning each individual spoke. I need TE37's!!
Anyone know the stock offset for the TII mesh style 16's? I know the bolt pattern is 5x144.3.
Thanks for all the compliments and looks!

RarestRX- Your shocks are getting worn? Man, I have over 200K miles on my original struts and springs and they are as solid as the day I bought it new. Are you sure the previous owner didn't change them for something less firm? The original suspension was so rock hard that some people did not like it. Your paint is excellent. Mine is the same way. Mazda really got the paint right on that model year. I have some pics of mine somewhere, but it is also on the back cover and several pages of John Matras book Color History of the RX-7. and yes, mine *is* a 1990 model year. Rarest of the rare.

Mine just turned 200K last week. It gets driven regularly. It was my daily driver for about five years after I bought it new and by that time it had almost 100K miles on it, so I figured it was already too late to have a low mileage model. Besides, i didn't know how rare that model was until I had put over 80K miles on it. Jon Matras was writing his RX-7 book and flagged me down in the parking lot at a mall near where I lived in PA. He came out to my place later and took those really neat photos of it for his book. The lighting was right at sunset, and he really knew how to get the proper effect. He did some calling around to his contacts at Mazda Corporate, since he was not aware that any GTUs were made after 1989. Seems they made only 100 1990 model year so they could meet the minimum production requirement for factory stock in GTU class in IMSA. There is a photo of the GTUs and my FD and another 87 base that I sold on "high mileage 2nd gen" thread.

Yo,
Ronarndt, that's too funny your GTUs is the one in the book! Man, you don't know how many times I've looked at those pics. You have a mustache, right? 'Cause I can see your happy face in your driver's side rearview mirror! Did Jon want you to step on the brake to light the brakelights? *grin*
Oh, and yeah, I can see his camera bag laying in the distance in the interior shot of your car! I /told/ you've I've looked at 'em a million times!! Your car looks great, and I had to chuckle when I saw the condensation in your FTP, I was like, "Phew! They ALL do it!!"
Once I saw the GTUs on the back of the book, I'm like, "I'm buying this book!" That's cool he did some research and wrote about the GTUs alot.
About my shocks, I bought my car in 1998 with 38,000 miles on it. Nope, not a misprint. 38K. Original. And I actually think the low miles has something to do with my shocks failing, they didn't get bounced around enough, or something. *grin* I'm debating with going the cheap route with KYB AGX shocks and Racing Beat linear springs, or expensive with the Koni threaded coilovers from True Choice. We'll see what Santa brings. *grin*
My buddy Jon has a white GTUs, check out his website:
http://www.geocities.com/dorifto/
As well as my buddy Dana, they both have white with rollcages. They're both goin' hardcore, while I try and stay somewhat mild.
I'm also trying to get a website going, and a registry, but I'm lagging. All I've got is the logo at:
www.gtus.net
Hope you like kawai anime catgirls.
That's too cool you're on the forum! I'm glad your GTUs is running strong, it gives me hope for mine at 58K miles.
Talk at ya later!
