Coolant gasket fix

Hello all. I have been having some problems with my 88 gxl for some time now. In the morning it idles rough (difficult to start sometimes) but most of all whenever i shut the motor down after driving for any duration and wait for 3 min. or more its hard to start again. The only way to get it to start is to cut the fuel until it sputters via fuel cutoff switch then turn the switch back on . I have tried fuel injector cleaner and that seemed to work for about a week and then the hard starting came back. I tried another bottle and that did nothing.I decided to call mazdatrix, I spoke with their mechanic and he said that If Im losing coolant than chances are thats whats flooding the engine due to a bad head coolant gasket and that the only way to fix it is a rebuild.I read a post on the net about using crc copper engine block sealant. Does this work? has anybody tried it? The guys who where talking on this post(http://www.wankel.net/rx7-fb-q2-2001/msg00274.html scroll down this post to see this fix) said It fixed their problems. Paul yaw at yawpower claims his rotary truck had a bad coolant gasket leak and the copper sealant fixed it. Im considering on doing this radiator flush with this stuff, my question would be is if anyone has had any positive or negative experience. Im just out of options on fixing this rx7 starting problem I love this car but im losing hope in it. Any input on this matter would be much appreciated. thanks in advance---Ren

if you have a bad coolant seal.. then try it ...you dont nothin to lose... i think that could be a remedy for a temporary fix... just my opinion

It works for some doesnt for others, depends on how bad your seal is. - Gabe

my guess is your injectors are leaking not a coolent leak, because you didnt mention smoke and believe me it would smoke like a bitch if enough coolent got in there to be hard to start it, and fuel flooding is alot more common. even if your loosing coolent it might just be a leaky hose, my bets still on the injectors leaking causing the flooding, very common, my car does it everyso often, you just need to get your injectors cleaned and it will go away, btw theirs no head on an RX7

Will injector cleaner do the trick or do you have to pull the injectors and have them professionally cleaned?

Straight up, having your FI's machined cleaned doesn't compare to straight through the tank cleaner. I noticed phenominal results from doing this.

Sorry Silver, but could you rephrase that... it's hard to tell which one you recommend.

No no no If you have a blown coolant seal then coolant/water will leak into the rotor housing and thus it becomes very hard to start because it has to rid the **** from the housing and when it has rid of it then it will start/run. -Gabe
