Water Pump
Water Pump
Question.
The Water pump connects to the bearing housing. Now do the screws that attach the water pump to the housing also hold on the housing? Does the housing have its own screws to attach itself, and the screws used on the water pump attach themselves onto the housing???? I looked at the manuel, its just not clear.
Thx.

There's 4 bolts that hold on the housing, I believe two of them are part of the waterpump bolts as well, and two aren't, it should be fairly easy to tell, the one's that are have studs coming through them, the other's don't
There's 4 studs and one bolt that hold the water pump housing to the front iron. There are an additional 2 bolts which hold the pump to the housing. The bolt that goes through the housing into the front iron holds the bottom of the alt adjuster bracket.
So the bolt that holds the alternator bracket is one of the bolts that holds the housing also?
I just called a local mazda dealership. They have 1 housing to engine gasket left, but no one around has a water pump gasket. GRRRRRRRR Now i have to wait till one comes in the mail. GHEY!
anyone know who can overnight ship me one???
Thx

NAPA.... they come with their rebuilt water pumps.
I just use rtv and have no problems with it.
Edit: You'll also need to pull the main pulley off its hub (don't touch the center bolt!!!!!!) with the 4 bolts which hold it on. There isn't enough clearance to get the housing off without removing the pulley.
