Water Injection VS Inter-cooler Co2 bar

I'm guessing the principal between the two are the same. Lower intake charge temps. One enhances the fmic with a blast of CO2, the other injects a mist of water in the airflow which evaporates and cools it off. Anyone tried them both to see how well they work? I'm having a little detonation trouble at high boost high rpm's, I've richend the haltech up above 5.5k rpm by a couple of steps at boost over 11psi and the detonation is gone till I get to about 15psi. J&S knocksensor is retarding the timing then not as bad as it had been but still about 4 or 5 lights.

Will either of these help? I hate to go hog rich on it, rather just try and get it done with lower intake temps. Then I can lean it back out a tad and see what happens.

I'm running 110 motor octane, 112 R+M, Sonoco Supreme leaded.

um... water injection helps agains detonation. it cools the intake temps massivly. someone i know doesnt use an intercooler. they just fill up with water when the low water level light comes on.

Are you running stock ports? how much are you putting down at 15 psi with that 62-1? You satisfied with the performance of it? Im thinking my T04E 60 trim isnt going to be enough, and am considering the 62-1.

what are your timmings?

at 12-15PSI

What are your air intake temps like at 12-PSI
What are your EGT's at 12-15PSI

Be a largish street port. Putting down 410 at 16psi. I need another 200hp to the ground. I want to rip the tread off the tires at 50mph when I nail it. It was tuned at a lower elevation by about 1500 feet I think, Dallas vs Lubbock, Texas.

kabooski: I'll plug in the laptop tonight and get some data for you.

here's a lil vid of the car with sound

That sounded....mmm.....ya...good.

I personally would go with water injection. Worked good for me awhile back.

yeah if you do a search you will find a guy that is on this board that puts them in rx7's and has the kits and everything. Even step by step install guide however it is for a 3rd gen he said a number of his kits have been put on second gens.

Apparently not many people run either of these?

i have not heard too much about the CO2 method, but i think you are better off with the water injection. it is the fact that it is based on throttle input, is continously on, and is within your intake stream when it evaporates that make it advantageous...

but like others have mentioned, there have been a few threads that go into detail for this, so a search would yield you some answers...

Well the water injection if done right will cool more evenly.

Think about it.
You have an instant burst of cold to the intercooler or a constant misting system to reduce the intake air.

I would go with Water over NItrous/C02 just due to having a huge compressed bottle located in my car. Also it costs nothing to refill the water injection.

Carx7 has a water injection system in his FC but I don't think it's fully functional yet.

I'm suprised the 110 octane hasn't cured the problems honestly. Anyhow I'd go with water injection. It should cool more evenly and its going to cost less in the end then trying to fill c02 bottles every couple weeks.

CO2 bottle probably costs $15-30

Pure water from a our local fill station costs $.32/gal
