Stock is 205/60-15. Why not use that? Otherwise your speedo will be off by a few. You have to keep the overall height of the tire/wheel the same if you want to use different sizes from stock. The sizes you listed would have different heights.
And they're called tires.

Can somebody plz explain what the 3 measurments on the tires are for?
Like 215/45/17
Im guessing 215 is the width in mm?
45 I have no clue
17 is for the height in inches

In a 205/60-15 tire, 205 is the tread width is mm. 60 is the sidewall height as a percentage of tread width, the sidewall is 60% of 205mm. 15 would be what size wheel to mount it on.

205/60 R15
if you had 16 inch rims with the same width, then it goes up like this
205/55 R16
the second number is the sidewall height
edit - i see that was just mentioned.. damn im getting slow..

will be: 225/50-16s in the front and 255 BF Goodrich Drag Radials in the rear.
Booyah.
Of course, I'll also be pushing roughly three times the horsepower at the flywheel than your '88 GXL does. :>

I just noticed my dad's Focus ZTS has stock 205's. My TII has stock 205's!! I need wider tires! Lol, luckily, I got a set of 225 Bridgestones on the way, hmmm... want something even wider for the rear, but that's what's on the rims, lol.
I use Yokohama A520, 205/40R17 all around. let me tell you...the size is fine...but the tires SUCK from what I have noticed. Only driven with them a little bit and so far do NOT like them at all!
Well, I would have made a condom joke but I'm too lame.
My GTU is running something like 215/65/15's
Some H rated tire I got from Purcell tires.
I've got 15's on from the previous owner and thats why the sidewall is big. Great for when I curb check though!
Not a single mark on my rims yet!
My SE is running 215/65/15's as well i think but they are cheapo tires
