Possible clutch release cylinder oddness?

Possible clutch release cylinder oddness?
Hello. So I just noticed that I can take the pull rod out of my clutch release cylinder without unbolting anything from the car... just pushed it back a bit and then maneuvered it out. Is this bad? That is, should I NOT be able to do this?
