Washers don't work, light is on

Like title says, I have non-working washers and the warning light on the dash is on. It actually came on late last fall before I put the car away for the winter, and I just assumed it was the oft-mentioned cold-solder connections on idiot light cluster, since I tried to add washer fluid, only to almost instantly have it overflow the neck of the bottle because it was already full. But when I recently had tried to use the windshield washers, I found they are actually not working - no motor noise, no spray.
I did try to search, but didn't find anything, and it doesn't sound like the common problems mentioned in the FAQs for either the idiot lights or bad switches (wipers themselves work, including variable intermittent). Although with the low km's and especially rare use of wipers in my car, I'd be really surprised to have a worn out wiper switch. Thoughts?

Look at the "body electrical" section of the appropriate FSM and it will show you how to check the washer motor and float. It's possible the float is stuck in the position which makes the low fluid level light come on. You can check for continuity on the fluid level sensor to tell you if it's still operable. The motor should be easy to check as well, especially if the reservoir is easy to access, unlike mine.

Well, retard moment, in the sense that I found the tubing where the hose connects to the hood had come off and dropped down, so it was spraying on the frame rail (with the engine off I could hear the spraying, then the dripping on the garage floor - lol). I probably just wasn't hearing the washer motor when the car and the wipers were running before. That just leaves the idiot light as the issue - and since the bottle is in the fender under the air cleaner housing like everyone else's, I'll have to tackle the question of a bad float/sensor another day. Or just stick a piece of electrical tape over the light - the 5 second solution :P
