Why isnt my header fiting?

I got a header and i had to remove my floorboard heat shield and exhaust to make it fit, and on top of that it was hugging my transmission and floorboards, are the racing beat headers made to fit a 1990 or not? mines an automatic, but they said that shouldnt make a difference on the fit, am i doing something wrong?'

if anyone could tell me if this is normal ited help me out alot, i dont know if they get that hot my guess is the tranny would burnup and your carpet could catch fire.

Remove your exhaust? You have to remove the stock header to put a new one on, and you connect the new one so I am not really sure what "exhaust" you removed. Removing the heat shield is fine, and as long as it is not touching the tranny or floorboard you should be fine. Try it out and if it gets too hot, then worry about it.

its racing beat, how close to stuff *in inches* can i be b4 its close enough to worry about, im just having a blast hearing it with open manifolds for now, but i have my exhaust droped off, and i can install the header easy cause ive memorized all the blots from doing it so many times, i just need to know clearence b4 its too close, it has a collector, and from what i can tell the straight section of the header needs bent to give much clearence, judging from how much clearence the stock exhaust manifold allowed for this header is too damn close. i still figure its about 1inch from tranny and 1inch floorboards. Is this to close to run safely? Cause this is my only tuning option outside a manual tranny.

also by "not touching the tranny or floorboard you should be fine." does this mean the sucker dont get very hot? And it wont hold an idle without a full exhaust system on, so how will i know if its gona be a problem for stuff?

"Remove your exhaust? You have to remove the stock header to put a new one on, and you connect the new one so I am not really sure what "exhaust" you removed. " yea i had to remove the exhaust manifold, but to get room for the headers collector i cut my exhaust system back sence i needed a new section anyway.

If its not touching the floor board, I wouldn't worry about it. The floor board will not catch your carpets on fire from the radiant heat, you would need to apply a flame directly to the carpet for it to ignite. Also, there is an exhaust overheat icon on the idiot light cluster. The sensor is on the passenger floor board area, so if it lights up, then the exhaust is getting to floor too hot.

dont use header wrap tape on a street car, ive heard of headers blowing through prematurely because they is just to much heat to disapate. I had a racing beat header on my auto before it was converted to miata 5 speed. I had no clearance issues, make sure you have the correct header, because 13bs are 13bs, so incorrect headers could potenialy be installed causing incorect fitment. Racing beat is quite reputable, their products should fit like a glove. Although when i received my header, they missed a 1/4 inch of tig weld around the flange causing a leak. Didnt think to check a brand new header for inperfections.
