warning lite problems

warning lite problems

i have a 89 turbo ll ...alt has been rebuilt and is charging 14 volts ....the lites in the center display for the hatch ,brake ,volt etc come on once in a while but they come on very dim .....ive regrounded my battery and still have the problem .....the headlites are not dim and my stereo is ok ....any suggestions ?

you might want to get your alternator checked out to see if it is charging you battery correctly....this happened to my a little while ago and my alternator was dead...now my warning lights are working properly

If they come on at high RPM, check the alternator belt
tension.

If they come on at random, you might want to resolder the light cluster.

they come on randomly ...idle ,mid rpm ,high rpm at nit daytime ....you get the pic . ........hey anyone got one laying around that they dont want ..........

if they are only coming on intermitently at idle (rather than drive speeds) chances are you have a bad diode/rectifier in the Alt.

Sometimes when they get re-built they don't change them.

if it happens all the time, get a digital multi-meter and check the voltage when it is happening. If you have at least 13VDC then I would re-solder the idiot light cluster. If there is less than 13VDC then again the alt is failing.
