So I was told that you do not NEED to let a fuel Injected engine get to temperature before shutting it down. A mechanic friend said you only need to do that on a Carb engine. So for my fuel injected engine would it be harmful to shut it down cold? My drive to work isn't that far maybe a mile or 2.

It needs to get up to operational temperature to boil of any condensation that accumulates internal to the engine, or contamination and rust can form over time. But, if you drive 2 miles you should be ok. Just occasionally take it for a good ride.

After thinking about it I think you are questioning not shutting down to quickly so that it floods the engine. This is true. Don't start it then immediately shut down or else you'll flood it. Just let it run for a 1/2 minute or so before attempting to shut off.

What about this? The previous owner installed a fuel pump cut off switch. What if I shut it off that way by pressing the button? Won't it burn off the remaining g fuel in the engine?
