Warm Stick

Hello All,

I am going to order the inner shift boots cause i can see right threw, but i was wondering in the mean time can i just put a bunch of insulation inside and around the stick??

The reason i'm asking, is because it is getting very hot, and until i get the new boots i don''t want to deal with it anymore. Is it safe to put insulation in there???

Thanks

Warm stick huh? Try boxers, and baggier pants, it allows the air to circulate better...errr...

On a more serious note, you really don't need to worry about your gear-shift heating up...I have taken off all my heat shields, so my stick gets very warm...I don't think insulation would hurt though...

I have some warm stick issues too. Actually, mine gets too hot to touch after about an hour of driving. For me, it's because my cat is clogged and thus radiates a lot of heat.

Maybe not your problem though.

Insulation

Back in the olden day Mazda would put insulation there and they are the maker. I don't know if they ever stopped from the factory. Only original owners would know. Well if you figure now days when you buy and RX except for maybe 3rd Gens the clutch probably has been replaced. Most shops just remove the tranny which means the shifter was removed along with the Insulation. Just a thought to spit out.

If you don't have a connection for discounted parts, give these guys a call:
http://www.trussvillemazda.com/parts.html

They saved me $5 over my local dealer after shipping charges.

Insulation

My friend just bought a RX-7 and there was insulation. I assume this is factory because it looked nicely shaped/sized. The other reason is whoever had this car before did not take care of it. So there is no way he would have put that there.
