Question It wants to blow itself up!

ok, so its not my car, its my cousin's so I dont know 100% the details. Anyway, what happen is everytime he starts it up the revs just skyrocket, like the throttle is sticking. He has to shut it off. He told me that he dissasembled the throttlebody cleaned and then lubricated with fluid film... which I think is the part of the problem. I told him to do it again only using lithium grease, and see if that helps.

Anybody else have any idea what else might help?

well, im guessing that when he puts it back in, he knows the plates are closed, may be something to check. another thing maybe one of the throttle cables somehow became tightend and is holding them open. either way i think pulling the TB back off and checking it would be the best idea

Yeah, mine did that also.

Ended up being the cruise control cable was to tight. Start with the simple things.
