Want to put a FMIC...

Hey guys, well I have a FMIC with no piping. So I obviously have to put a kit together. I was wandering how you guys approached this, since there arent any intercooler kits out there for the FC. Actually, I think there is one. But anyway, I am trying to put one together now. How did you guys approach this? Where did you guys get your piping? Did anyone consider exhaust piping?

ebay piping good. ebay couplings are ****. design the pluming yourself, think of any way to route the piping with minimal cutting. stay away from having to many bends it can create lag. KEEP IC PIPES ALUMINUM!!!! as 3" or w/e id/od metal pipes can rust. do like rusty wankles? no one does. the i/d of the piping from the throttle body to the ic i hear its best to route it with bigger size then the turbo to the ic, idk why but i see ppl do it alot. also get a bov flange on that side as well. that is all my knowledge on set ups, correct me all you want.

There's actually a few kits out there for FCs. But if you have a core, I know plenty of people that use the intercooler piping from Ebay. What are your overall power goals? I'd personally do 2.5" piping. My intercooler piping now is 2" from the turbo to the IC, then 2.5" from the IC to the throttle body elbow. Like forced inducted fd dude said, stay away from the ebay couplers. I got mine along with the clamps from ATP turbo for about 130 for all of them and they should hold up really well.

post where you mounted your ic. i tilted my radiator backwards and stuck it in front of it. many people removed the bumper support and put it right up front. Either way, ebay ic piping kits will take care of the job. Make sure to buy one with decent silicone couplers and T-bolt clamps. Personally i tilted my radiator back and stuck my ic right in front of it b.c i was uncomfortable in removing my bumper support. I have had a few issues in running the piping: 1. clock the turbo downwards, i have an aspec 500r, im running into issues with it hitting the hood. 2. fab up your own elbow. i have a higgi elbow and it points in a wierd angle compared to my i.c piping. customing your own elbow would not be that hard and you can have it poin where ever the hell you want it to point. 3. The bends are not quite eneough to do what i want to do so look into having your piping welded. that will reduce the number of cupplers you need to run and not make you stick a coupler right on the edge of a bend. From a fluid flow stand point, if you weld your ic pipes and grind the inside smooth it will add up to much fewer minor losses than using couplers. Just remeber everytime piping changes diameter their is a pressure/flow loss. Do not skimp on your high pressure side, make things as smooth and as efficient as possible.

wow, that was 10x more than i usually write

in addition to that, i am setting up my ic with an ebay ic kit and all seems well. I only wish that i had a few tighter bends since my compressor is clocked upwards. im having issues iwth the piping hitting the hood so i may turn it down wards (it is a huge pain in the *** to do this so im trying to figure a way round it but we will see.

heres a hint, s4 n/a plastic elbows (intake elbow) bolts up to the t2 throttle body, youll have to cut a hole for the air temp sensor

plus it'll hold about 20lbs of boost before it starts to crack and the inlet is 4" so you might need a reducer

this saves you some cash for gas, beers, paying your girlfriend to go out with her friends so you to get a chance to go out for a drive with the guys idk anything, i have like 5434363643675765 elbows and i save'em all because not many people know about it lol

Damn, that is HUGE! I LIKE!!!

I also noticed that with my tmic I have 2 hoses connected to it behind the uim. What did you guys do with that?
I also noticed that I will need to make holes behind the driver side headlight and my passenger side headlight. Did you guys go this route?

Yeah, there's lots of readily available kits out there for the FC... You must not have searched. HKS, GReddy, CorkSport, as well as a couple others.

The Greddy kit requires cutting, and I'm pretty sure on the FC yo will have to cut something somewhere. I cant recall the hoses behind the UIM.....it's been over 2 years since I've had a TMIC, sorry I'm no help there. Check out those threads AaronCake put up. I'm sure they can help with your kit.

Mine's a JSPEC so there was no hoses. I suppose you can just block them off.
