I don't see why this guy is so reluctant to get a stand-alone engine management system. Of course price is a concern, but its a lot safer to have one, especially if you want 400 hp. Sure its possible to get to 400 hp without stand-alone but why would you want to? Its makes fine tuning alot easier once you learn how to operate it.

Your looking at the wrong line, that's the HP line. The A/F maxes out at around 14, then runs pretty rich (sub 12) under the upper HP levels.

you could in theory make 400 hp on 25 psi with the right porting and fuel managment setup, what rpm do you want to hit the magic number at? i can figure it out if you give me litres, compression, and engine type.

A standalone Is not a must but more practical by conventional means to say the least. A friend of mine Is making 426 to the ground on a stock ECU. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...highlight=kurt

Realistically speaking, a standalone is a must. How many people have the skills, knowledge, resources and cash to risk getting that much power from a stock ECU? There are more considerations other than just whether it's possible.

who cares if the engine blows up? lol just kidding, but on a more seriose note, why not take a shot at 450 on the stock computer with some other way to add extra fuel ? i have some ideas on how to do it but never have the money to try them out - but what i would do is ghetto rig a 12-a and see how much i could get out of it - then use the ideas that worked and build the good one,

It depends who you talk to really? Not everyone can run this on a stock ECU. Kurt and I have the same objectives but he wanted to prove that he can do this on a stock ECU whereas I differ...I am running a standalone.

Besides, I did say "a standalone Is not a must but more practical by conventional means to say the least", but whatever.

Ask CARX7, he is probably one of two or three people posting on this thread that has actually built a 400+ hp 13B.
