walkthrough on how to rebuild a turbo?
Is there any information on this anywhere? like a Repair manual on a turbo? Just wondering because I want to rebuild my Hitatchi T-18 (s4 turbo) before i put it in my car...Theres nothing about this in the service manual, and I have accese to mitchell on demand, which didnt have anything either. =\

All I have seen here is that you can use a Garrett T4 rebuild kit.
Past experience with high speed balanced assemblies suggests:
Keep the unit & the workspace clean.
Mark the position & rotation of all parts to avoid balance & alignment problems on re-assembly.
Use wrenches that fit exactly.
Use a torque wrench where you can on disassembly to get some approximate values for reassembly.
Be very careful not to damage or bend the thin fins.
Pre-oil the bearings & seals during assembly.
Anyone with experience on this unit, please comment.

Remove turbo.
Step two.
Take it to a turbo rebuilder
I got mine done for $200.
I wouldn't fully trust myself rebuilding one since you have to MARK EVERYTHING! so you done mess up the balance.
Remember that this thing will spin at 100,000++ RPMS!
You don't want it grenading due to unblanced parts and taking your motor with it.
Remove turbo.
Step two.
Take it to a turbo rebuilder
I got mine done for $200.

I was also very worried about the balance issue. I had mine rebuilt by a (cough) professional (cough)....
