if they want a v8 and a reliable car then get a camaro if they want a v8 but the whole porpose for owning a rx7 is to be diffrent. if mazda wanted a v8 in the car they would have put one in there. Y mess with perfection

I could really care less what someone wants to do to their car. If they wanna put a V8 in a car, so be it. Its all just peices of metal that come together to form the task of giving us people something to do and for entertainment. It really doesnt matter....

My friends V8 400 small block is by no means reliable. Matter of fact it dont run much. Now the main reason is the dumb butts he bought it from used a mazda alternator on a GM engine and it snaps belts more often than I get drunk. He will be putting in his built 350 sooner or later.

Now if you put in a newer engine like LS1 it would be reliable. But I am sure if you put in a newer model rotary it will also be reliable. The reasons these cars are thought to be un-reliable is that they are old. most have way over 140,000 on the speedo. If you are driving around in an 87 Camero or Mustang, you are probally doing the same type repairs/rebuilds that people who are driving the same year model RX's.

If you want to put in another engine, I say go for it. If that is what you want to do with YOUR car. You paid for it, it is your right to swap engines, cut the roof off, or drive it off a bridge if you want to.

My personal choice, is put in another rotary. I like the 20B ideal. But when you start putting in different engines you mess up the cars handeling.

Just my two cents.

whats the big problem with piston swaps? its not my personal preference, but rotary engines are far from perfect. they have their advantages and disadvantages. for some people the advantages of a piston engine outweigh the disadvantages. so be it! whats the point of harassing someone about it? all the more rotary engine parts for you. such hostility towards someone you dont know based one one inconsequential thing like this seems ridiculous to me.
