I have choice #3 and I LOVE it. Gives my car a sweet sound. I like pulling up next to civics with those bumblebee tips and hitting the throttle at a dead stop. It sounds aggressive compared to them.

I have the RB "never to be used upon a highway" header w/pre-silencer and HKS exhaust. Very nice deep tone when cruising and sounds really good at WOT. I noticed a really big improvement once I put this stuff on and an even bigger improvement once I realized my actuators were stuck closed and opened them This setup is also very good at turning on peoples alarms in those parking structures and when youre just cruising on the street

I really liked this setup BUT you dont have to take my word for it!

Mazdaspeed "true dual" Exhaust

How's the in-car noise of the Mazdaspeed true-dual setup? I'm considering this for my '90 GTU. I don't mind loud, but I don't want to have to scream at the passenger to be heard with the windows up.

I am running stock mufflers, only 2 years old, so theyre still in very good shape. At cruise and idle, it isnt bad at all, normal if I may say so. Idle sounds awesome, cant really explain it, but deep, full. It gets a high pitched metallic ring to it in the midrange, but it isnt really bad under full throttle. Much of this is from the pipes ringing, which can be fixed by securing a lead strip around the pipe with a hose clamp, but I have not got around to doing that yet. With any aftermarket mufflers except the RB of HKS mazdatrix sells, it will be incredibly loud.

But at cruise, you cant even hear the exhaust, at idle, you can barely hear it inside the car.

Here's my setup- I like the sound, it sounds very deep and rumbly below 2000, then it whines like an indy car above that, never sounds farty or like a go-kart.
[Headers]--[Borla XR1 as pre-silencer]--[2 1/4" cat back piping-Stainless/Ceramic Edelbrock RPM mufflers]--[Hooker 3 1/2" Glass Packed Tips]
Personnaly, I think a gutted cat sounds better than most pre-silencers, because it gives an "expansion Chamber" effect, allowing more resonance with lower frequencies, but it hurts velocity.
Also- I think any RX7 sounds better with a stock manifold over headers, but I like power... soo.....

MazdaSpeed

I actually did buy a MazdaSpeed 3# Catback two years ago from Japan, very expensive but i love it! Deep tone, felt like it added 25 bhp, lovely weldings - stainless of course!

Good day to all,

Fellas, i dont understand the "never to be used upon hwy" part in #3. I'm planning on gettin this setup and was unsure as to what this meant.

Thanks in advance,
Steve w.

Becoz the cat-replacement pipe, as the name suggests, replaces the cat, the car becomes "emissions illegal". That's why it "should never be used upon a highway". But who gives a ****.

I asked this question in another post.I just go the rb presilecer and I was thinking of cutting off the inside tube for the secondaries. I think it might help restrictin more to get it out of the way of the exhaust pulses. you guys think there are any draw backs?
other than that I have a 3" cat back and hight flow cat from dynomax. all stainless with their "Ultra Flow" round muffler. I love it. It makes the best sound I have heard yet on a 7. really opened up my power too

Making my own custom 3.5" SS turbo-back straight pipe w/ Borla XR-1 muffler mounted where the main cat was. Much cheaper alternative than paying someone else to do it or buying a premade kit. Why spend $5-1000 on a cat-back or even $700 on the RB and Mazdatrix when I've spent no more than $300 for the whole thing. Obviously, you need the room and time to do it so it won't work for everyone. Cheers

I have a question,

I want an exhaust system that has a good sound and great performance but emission legal.

Is this legal here?

RB Headers, Rb Downpipe, Hi Flow Cat, Custom pipes to RB SS duels?
