Volt gauge just died???

Hmmm. For some odd reason my volt guage on my 88 SE just stopped working. All the other guages work and it was fine this morning.

Any ideas on what would cause this? My Speedo cable is not working right now but the Tach and gas and oil work.

Also what would cause the Speedo guage to fly all around while driving? I know the damn cable isn't fully into the back of the cluster but it would do this before I even touched it. I tightened it at the tranny but it didn't fix anything. Is there any special way to get it to fully hook up to the cluster? Do I roll the car back and forth until the pin will slip in fully?

Try hitting the dash. I have to do that on my 87 and then it works again. I have no clue why it does not work but that how I fix it.

If the clip on the back of the cluster is broken, buy a new cable, it'll save you a lot of hassle, and it'll plug in easily. (well, pretty easily)

From what I felt it wasn't broken. I clicked the little clip then slid if off when I took the gauges out.

I'm wondering it it has a notch in the metal spike thing which has to slide in? I moved the car while the speedo wasn't attached and was thinking it might not be lined up now to slide in all the way.

OK, Well I've pretty sure it's not in all the way right now cause it's at 145MPH while parked(Ha! Try That parked!!!)

I hear a buzzing/dremil type sound from the back so I figured it wasn't fully in there.
