VIN info help me s4/5
Hey all , ive bought a s4/5 rx7, and the area with the stamped numbers is rusted out, and the aluminium placard has faded fully, theres a lil japanese tag in the door, but other then that , there isnt much else.. is it possible to cut the numbers off another car , and take a tag of another s4/5 ?

look at the vin under the hood. it is stamped on the fire wall on the passenger side. take the vin to the dealership and they can tell you what year it is. s4 is 86-88 and s5 is 89-91. s5's were also starting to be made in late august of 88 also.
other than that,, if you are just trying to figure out if it is an s4 or s5, simply post a pic of the top of the intake and anybody here can tell you the verdict.

If it's so far rusted that the firewall is crumbling, then the chassis is not worth saving and the car is not structurally sound to be on the road.
The aluminum plate on the right hand side of the vehicle is also stamped, not written on, so fading would not remove the VIN from it. Check again.
A VIN may also be located on a sticker in the door jamb areas.
