Vibration problem!

Hey guys

(rx7, n/a, 1988, se)

I just replaced the tranny mount and cross member because my car was vibrating above 50 mph. So i just took it out for a test drive and it still vibrates, but a lil less. It vibrates more at 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears.

The vibrations seem to be coming more from the front end of the rx7. Could anyone help me out here and tell me what to check?

Thanks.

alignment and tire balance. i also suggest rotating your tires if you haven't done it in a while.

if that doesnt work then I suggest that you get your tie rods and steering arms checked...that could also be the problem

I have a little trick that works well. Take a pen/pencil and hold it against the steering wheel at the 12 o'clock position. When you feel the vibes, look at the pen. If it wobbling side to side, then you have a tire/rim imbalance. If it is bouncing up and down then you have a vibration from the drive train. Check for bad u-joints or maybe a bent rim. good luck and HTH.

I just noticed that it vibrates only when I'm putting pressure on the throttle, mostly at around 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears. I think it could be more of a drivetrain problem because of this. What could I check at this point?
