very low idle, low power, no more 3k rpm start up
i have an 86 N/A GXL. i had my cat replaced earlier today cause i had exhaust coming out of my engine bay and i looked at the cat and i was glowing red.
once i replaced it i noticed it had a better exhaust note and does not backfire as nearly as i once did.
but since then my idle has been very low and when i start it up in the morning and after work, i no longer have the 3krpm idle.
i checked underneath the car and noticed that the guy who worked on it, didnt put the air-pipe for the aux ports back on. he just cut it off and put another cat in without connecting the airpipe.
i know that not having working aux ports makes the car run a bit off in the high rpm so i dont drive it higher than 3k rpm until i can get the RB exhaust.
i also have very low power. like it kind of struggles to get up to speed. but it starts up fine. when i turn on the a/c (works very nicely) the idle raises to a steady 800-900rpm. as soon as i have driven the car for a bit she starts to have a jumpy idle from anywhere between 300-700 rpm even if i have the a/c off
could any/all of this be attributed to not having my airpipe connected?
the car had a rock solid idle since i bought it and it only started doing this a few days ago. it still has the rubber/plastic cover over the idle adjust screw
and just today i replaced the spark plugs cause i just bought the car recently and am almost finished with the normal "bought a used car tune-up"
any thoughts?
