It's all about what your goals are. Yeah, you can drop a turboII in, but you've still got the weight working against you. It will be unique and fun and ~97% as fast. The vert is a compromise. For most people who like verts, I'm sure it's great.

Yea so a vert weighs the same as a TII, which mind you has a **** load more power. TII is also fully loaded. If you do a turbo swap on the vert then your adding even more weight to the pig.

245lbs extra= a pig? my friend's vert with full exhaust, intake , clutch and lightweight flywheel hauls ***........he can't keep up with my T2 but it still hauls ***... 300 lbs. is nothing once you have 350+rwhp........so the HEAVY pig argument is worn out and overused...... How will >300 lbs. hold him back at the track? the thing he will not get from the coupe is the nice wind/sun on a nice twisty road where you are just cruising and enjoying the drive( something i have encountered and made me wish for a vert)......not everyone is building a Gutted track car/occasionally driven coupe like me so I think the vert is a good choice for a daily driven car.....

I take 300lbs heavier for 350rwhp and 300ftlbs of torgue vs 2800 and sum 140rwhp and 110ftlbs or torgue.

Yea wow now we talking about doing heavy mods... wow jee what a good debate we have here. First of all verts are NOT turbo, so your dream of 350rwhp is stupid. You would have to do a turbo swap and that would increase the weight even more. Probably around 200-300lbs MORE on top of the stock weight of the vert.

Anways its what your looking for. So this guy's question about what HE should get was dumb because its just an opinion. I think the verts are fugly and I would never get one. I know many people that think the same way as me.

I've got 350rwhp so lets see how your heavier vert would do against me.

Weight is also bad for handling. Why do all the autox cars stip everything out? Oh jee just to look ghetto? I think not. Fat pigs dont handle well. Just look at the mustang.

Yea I think anyone would take a car with $5k in mods dumped into it over a simular stock car.... What a BS statment.

"I'd take a same weight 20B rx7 with 600rwhp and 500ftlbs of torque vs 3300 and sum 350rwhp and 300ftlbs of torque vert."

Net Seven has a bit of a point, simply because in my own experience with another car, I reduced a significant amount of weight on the car and absolutely loved the way it handled. I simply couldn't go back to a stock-weight car.

But on the other hand, it's a vert, and if it handles well and has power then the few extra hundred pounds do not make a difference to me.

yeah sorry I went a little of track. I just hate when people say that the stock NA vert vs the stock NA coupe their is much of a power difference because their isn't. Neither have any power but the vert handles better so the vert wins in the twisties and the coupe wins in a battle of the lower 17 second quarter miles.

I think "wins in the twisties" is pushing it.

who would argue with you in person?? you've been arguing with us for three days. You never concede any point even though many have SPELLED it out for you with actual FACTS and WEIGHTS. You've over looked that simple post from Icemark.

So who in their right mind is going to say anything to the contrary to you.........The people that you "know" have found it fruitless to contradict ANYTHING you say therefore you know NOBODY that thinks differently than you do.

One more thing, Using your flawed logic there is only one car that needs to be hot rodded. The lightest car ever made. (I don't know what it is but its not a 7 of any year, probably a mini cooper) So go out and sell your PIG 7 right now or admit that your argument is STUPID. 200lbs=lose of every autocross, you ever think the DRIVER may have any input???

You sound like those INDY racers compaining becuase Danica Patrick only weighs a little over 100lbs and the men weigh 200lbs. Using your logic Danica should've won the hole thing outright in the 7th lap.

200lbs Yea that'll make the difference. Throw every vert out the door. Hell why race at all???You've got it all figure out ahead of time. Cancel all future racing because the all knowing Net 7, in his infinite wisdom, can predict the out come.

One word of advice, just say why you think your car is good and leave the comments about how you think others' cars look.

The big key that every one seems to be missing , is that the vert weighs only a beer drinking buddy more than a regular non turbo, and a beer drinking girlfriend more than a Turbo... so the weight issue is pretty non existant.

Its the same as having a passenger with you.

and as far as structurally the vert, while not a hardtop, is very substantial with the top up and latched. The suspension is superior over the stock coupe in both handling and compliance.

so, people can keep claiming the vert sucks... I guess that is why they made more verts than GTUs models and Turbos.

^^so true......

If it's one thing that I learned about autocross by watching the cars & drivers the difference will ALWAYS be the drivers untill you get into the top 1%. I saw that weekend a 92 Honda civic hatchback make a killing around those cones & later after I got to take a ride with the driver found out the he was an instructor! That was his daily driver with only slight mods to the engine but a wicked suspension. He was beating the 30k lancers, 50k modified Mitsubishi and so on. So the whole point is, buy what you like based on it's asthetic apeal, options, modify it and enjoy! What ever mix you get it's the building up that's the fun part and you'll get to the point of "I really don't give a damn what others have". It's you & the clock baby!!

Jesus christ you rant on forever don't you. My friend has a TII and I have a convertible, both with the same exact turbo drivetrains, I did not notice a difference in handling when I drove his TII, the thing I did notice though is that I couldn't take put down the top and drive under the stars. Some people like convertible's, some people like coupes, all in all most people really don't keep their 7 stock unless they already have a modded one. And if they don't their not really a super performance kinda guy anyway. But I'm sorry to say every single one of our cars would get wooped by a S1 with a modded TII drivetrain.

Have you ever even driven a convertible before? Your angry ranting seems like you haven't.

Nah I dont care what you guys think. I just dont like the rx7 verts, I dont like most convertables. Whats pissing me off is not the fact that you like verts but the fact that you guys are only looking at 1/2 the story. I own 2 rx7s, an s5 TII and an 87 sport. Both came STOCK with turbo suspension but the sport is about 26XXlbs and my s5 TII is almost 3k lbs. Yes the sport is not nearly as fast but I can tell a difference in handling. Vert is not the only NA that came out of the factory with TII suspension.

BTW yes I actually am selling my TII right now. I'll be getting an FD.

for the guys that keep saying that the vert doesn't look good:

The original post asked which to buy. That means that he likes the look of the vert or he wouldn't be considering it. I understand that it's an old post and it's turned into one of those "which is better" threads, but come on now. "It's ugly" isn't a valid reason that one car is better than the other.

Net Seven: you keep talking about "facts," but it seems like you don't know a whole lot about the vert. How can you argue with someone when you don't really know anything about the vert. Go buy yourself an FD and then complain that it weighs 900 lbs more than a lotus Elise.

I used to have an FD, and my vert doesn't feel much heavier than the FD did. It's nowhere near as fast, doesn't handle nearly as well, but it's not a pig by any means. My vert drives a lot like a miata. That means it has a lot of potential to be a pretty good track car.

Stop going off topic AGAIN. We arent comparing a Lotus to an RX-7. If I had the money hell yea I'd rather get a Lotus over an FD, but thats not the point.

Ok back to the topic. FC vert vs coupe. I gave my opinion so there, if you dont like it then you can stick it up your @$$. The guy asked for what we think and I told him. I dont like the vert so why would I tell him to get it?

You didn't just give your opinion. You added a little mis-information based on conjecture, feelings and flawed Logic and that is where you went wrong.

Again, do you think the Vert comes with TII suspension? I would like you to answer that question. Becuase when you do, then we will get some insight into your flawed logic.
