Question Vert Top Motors Removal?

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to remove the convertible top motors and simply raise/lower by hand. Without the motors will the top stay up on it's own (while being latched in of course), or does doing this just cause problems? I know weight reduction in a vert is kinda dumb, but I gotta do something to lower the weight. Has anyone done this or had any experience with it? Thanks.

I have seen a couple threads on this. From what everyone says it works just fine. No more targa mode though. Are the motor heavy?

I was wondering that too. I'm sorta assuming they are, but don't really know for sure. If it works though, I'd sacrifice targa mode for it. I tried to do a search, but all I could come up with was motor problem threads, and questions about broken motors and so on.

The motors are about 10 pounds each.
(that is a guess, but I am holding one as I guess)
Removal is easy, and the top is easy to operate manually.
