vert seatbelt
curious are there any difference between the S4 vert seatbelt and the S4 coupe. i know S5 coupe use auto seatbelt so that dont matter, what about S5 vert, would they go right into S4 vert ?
The vert seats belts are not interchangable with a coupe.
The mounting angle is different for the retractor, and the upper seat belt mount is much larger and the clip retainer is in a different place (being that the vert seat belts are shorter).
A S5 vert belt should work fine (other than color) in a 88.

on a similar subject, is there any safety concern with swapping manual seatbelts into a car which previously had automatic belts (S4 belts into S5) ??

The only concern is that it is technically illegal by federal law to modify a SRS system.
being another idiot kid on a message forum, i'll say that the legality is not a concern. i'm not a fan of electric belts. i never have been.
i knew the canadian S5s got manual belts, but i'll just play it safe and find an S4. i dont want to deal with shipping through the border and canadian FCs cant be too common in the states. especially in texas.
thanks for the reply, as always.

Remember, you probably don't want to reuse a 12-16 year old seat belt.

what do you mean "reuse"? how is it different than people with 12-16+ year old cars with the same factory seatbelts? i'm not looking for cars which have been in wrecks. in fact, that is purposely being avoided.

If you have a problem with your seatbelts, just go to the dealership, they have a LIFETIME warantee on seatbelts in our cars, and all cars they make, I think. It's on aaroncakes website, under buying a used 2gen, I'm just too lazy to find and post it's address
