man, that's got to be even uglier than the FC that some one made look like a fiero.

Ok, Really, that thing is super ugly.
I mean it makes the word ugly seem well, pretty....

I love the lines of my vert as a vert. the hartop on a FC is just disgusting. Cars like the miata and the older mercedes verts(190's-230's-250's) were designed to have removeable hardtops. Look at them, there's bracketry for securing it, and the body is designed to accomodate it.

Go look at a FC vert. The way the soft top is attached would mean that the hard top would have to sit over and around the soft top. Even when the top's down, the snaps for the boot stay in the same spot, so the hard top would have to be bigger than that area.

IMHO it would look bulky and strange.

I have personally thought about making a hard boot for the car. I thought one-piece would be cool, but if it rained and you ahd to put the top up, then you'd have nowhere to store the hard boot(being larger than the soft top dimensions).
So naturally, I thought that a 3 piece hard boot would be kinda cool. I haven't worked out all the details, but it would basically be two hard pieces that cover the side pieces that stick up(the integrated rollbar, etc), and then a bigger flat piece that would snap on the two end pieces.

Probably more trouble than it's worth, and definitly needs to be looked at a little more to make it happen...

and that brings me to

Are you serious?
I mean, if one was available, for say $1300 would you buy it?

and for selling a boatload of them, well, there's only so many Verts that were made to begin with, and I know many get junked......

If there is any real interest in a Vert hardtop, I'd be interested in doing the work, and that's a pretty simple mold and part to make (in fiberglass, CF, whatever)

my latest mold- 1971 P/u 1-piece front-end.

makes a vert top look downright small!!!!!

you mean making one? or waiting for the one or two in exsistance to become available?
Also you know the vert is kinda like a coupe with targa, well it can be opened targa,( I don't see the point in it myself) and some people would call it that!
LOL

anyways, that's my

it would be nice to have a removable hardtop for in the winter... because it would insulate the car a little better when its cold and also deadend the sound inside the car....also wouldn't mind it to protect the top, i have 83k orignal miles on my vert, with original top in immaculate condition...but its a lot of work keeping it that way. having a hardtop would really help cover it up when you dont want it down. i think the s2ks with the hardtops look better than the vert top up.

yea the s2k is sexy as hell. But we gotta face the fact that our cars arent as sleek and modernly designed as the s2k. The s2k has a rounder body, which is why a round hardtop looks good on it.

thats very true...but would be nice just to have that extra protection...until they come out with vynl that doesn't fade or tear etc....and replacing the top is probably a pain in the ***...
