its right behind my seat.. its not like I see it.

Soon its going some place in the passenger side of my car facing forward so i can see oncoming traffic and I can actually make left hand turns. lol

At all times? Yes that is when im actually driving my FC. I really only drive my FC about 2 or 3 times out of any given week during the warm seasons.

it just looks silly, they make cameras so small and cheap now why drive around with that thing back there?

are you just trying to see what people are looking at because your on the wrong side of the car? Technically the law in this state says rear cameras are not to be used while driving, mainly because of the distraction for the driver, driver is not supposed to be looking at a screen in the car.

ok. you win.

I'm only posting here to show juice what a good idea he had to use cameras and an in-car-computer with a monitor in the dash.

Also Juice when you get a comp make sure its got a good graphics card and can handle video capturing

its all too much thinking, the time spent looking at screens will distract from your main point- which is driving.

No matter what you will still turn your head and look, I dont think anyone would ever get the confidence in looking at a screen real quick to make a lane change at 90mph.

I can only see that rear camera being beneficial for cases of hit and runs. Let's see their insurance try to fight the claims when you've got footage.

Are your mirrors adjusted right? if you can see the side of your car then your side view mirrors are actually rear view mirrors.

The last link actually tells you how to adjust them.

Yeti's right

I had a Triumph Spitfire back in the early 80s that had plastic windows like the ones pictured. The plastic became foggy so that you couldn't see through it. Maybe the plastic is better now, but that may only be short term solution if it isn't.

The camera idea looks snazzy, but I find that by turning my side mirrors all the way to there limit away from the car, then bringing them back just a little, it eliminates the rearward blind spots. Play with it a little, but you should be able to see an overtaking car in your rearview mirror up to the point when it appears in your side mirror. By the time it leaves your side mirror, you should be able to see it by turning your head a little.

This doesn't help pulling out of a side road at something other than a 90 degree angle though.

The problem with the Rx-7 Convertible (especially for taller drivers) is that with the top up, the rear-view mirror is worthless. I can see about a 2 inch strip of action in the rear-view mirror, between the top of the rear window and above the lid of the trunk. This view is also at a downward angle, so the little bit I can see is the pavement 20 ft behind my car. Pretty meaningless at highway speeds. I can't even slouch low enough to understand how anyone could use this mirror with the top up. This obligates you to adjust at least one of your side mirrors for a decent rearward view.

Juice, as much as the plastic corner windows are innovative and probably safer, they just look like ***. My guess is that you don't want a single part of your car (especially exterior) to look out of place. Cameras are better options. Some auto manufacturers (I think BMW, Audi, maybe Volvo) have installed systems to sound an audible alert when vehicles enter your blindspot, or even when you cross the centerline. Retrofitting this type of system could be another option. Ask yourself one question: Will I still turn my head every time I switch lanes anyway? If so, this might become an expensive venture to add unnecessary weight to the car...

is that a MGB top???

Man, I understand why you want to do it, but I don't think you can do it without it looking like crap.
