vented hoods.... what about water?
vented hoods.... what about water?
ok im going to be cutting up my hood in a bit here and making one for my FC convertible.... now the question i have is the vents.. it seems that lots of water will come inside the car but a lot of these hoods are just sold like this.....
BTW: mine will be just like this but the curves will be molded with straight lines as not to clash with the lines of the FC... so it will be like a TII scoop in the middle and a triangular section raised up for the vents
how do you prevent a lot of water from seeping into the engine bay... i dont magine it will hurt it but what are your opinions about it....

Well, You can make baffles for under the vents..., which is what the louver kits for the corvetts come with.
You want a tray for the water to lay in with a drain tube at the "deep" end that drains the water to the road. You either have to stand the tray off with spacers to allow the air in, or make it wiht one end open and an inclined bottom towards the drain.

dont worry about the vents, no FD owner that i am aware of has every had a problem with a rain (also note, the rain guards which do come with the scoot hood are useless, i know from experience haha). if your scared of the rain, just go faster, the rain will just skip over the vents 
BTW: The T2 scoop would look like *** to me on that hood,different strokes for different folks though

im gonna do a smaller hood scoop.. not just a big *** TII hood scoop, pretty much what i was saying was im gonna make the scoop look like the turbo II scoop i.e. more square.. does that make sense?

Personally, I'm working on modifying my TII scoop insert as a reverse louvered baffle.
when you are driving, the air rushing over the louvers will create a vaccume and draw air up and out through the intercooler hole and the one right below the insert.
I'm going to put a baffle under the hole under the insert to keep water from getting onto the altenator if i happen to get caught in the rain and have to stop. (and wehn washing it!!)
