Question VDI on an 87'

I'm thinking about this swap but one wright up states I need to use the lower manifold as well as the rest of the system. the thing that has me worried is he says "So, before you can bolt on the new 89 lower intake, you'll need to block the port air in the center" If I block it wouldn't that make my 6 port non functional? and also i would think i could use the lower manifold I have. what do you think. I'm Going to get the manifold and at least try, but it might take a while I'm planing a dyno day.

Check the 2nd Gen Archive. There are detailed '89 intake swap threads.

******So, before you can bolt on the new 89 lower intake, you'll need to block the port air in the center*****

Although I've never seen a series five apart, I am fairly sure the Port Air that he is talking about is the Port Air in relation to the ACV, NOT the auxillary ports that you refer to.

The Port Air on a series four enters the front and rear side housings from the intake manifold. Evidently the Port Air from the ACV on a series five enters from the intake manifold to the intermediate housing instead of the front and rear side housings.

ok, that what i wanted to know, one more thing, after hearing about JBWeld flaking and killing engines, what would you use to block off the ports?should I just get some aluminum plate mig or tig welded in? i really don't want to use an epoxy.
