Value of a 10th Ann. Turbo RX7

Im a newbie when it comes to anything thats not a honda, and i want to move on from them...

Heres the gist of my story.

Old lady came to my werk to get her car werked on. She has a 88 10th an. turbo rx7, fully loaded, black interior, leather, white w/white rims, 90,000 miles, 1 owner, has all receipts. whole car is MINT, NO RUST, no damage, no nothing!!

I WANT THE CAR!!

What would a reasonale offer be for the car? KBB says 2700, but that seems low to me...

Im looking to do small upgrades on it, i think it needs a tune up, it leask oil i think...

PS: the awesome part of teh story, she asked me if i wanted to buy it cause i told her i loved her car! lol

OMGHI2U!!!!! You actually found one of the elusive and priceless 10th AE's?

Seriuosly, the car is worth what it is worth to you, Its just a 88TII with a monchromatic paint job, bronze glass, special badges, windshield washers and other small add-ons. It has the SAME engine/turbo/ECU/Drivetrain as the other 88 TII's. In order to keep it original it is difficult, the glass is NO longer available, badges are hard to find, the original keys are even rarer. I do make the REPRO carpet badges.

You should see if she'll take $2700

It's probably worth somewhere from $5k-7k, IMO.

kbb isnt very good for rx7 IMO, the car is worth what someone wil pay for it. And id offer about 4-6k for it. Theres one in my town with 25k original miles pristine condition.

here is a pic i took, there is acctually 7 that i know of on the road in this town. if your gonna mod it though. i would save the 'xtra' moneys and put it towards a regular t2. the only reason i bought mine is cause it had about 70k miles on it. but i wish i would of spent half the money and bought engine goodies. to me, these were just a gimik when they came out. and they still are. look at the kia rio and the kia rio 'tuner addition'. any special car that doesnt have more than paint and badging is really a joke. just my opinion of course. these thing are a dime a dozen here

johny zoom on here has a well maintained, all original 10th AE with like 75k miles on it. He paid $7000 I think. He has a bunch of FC's though and barely drives the thing.

i highly doubt that old lady knows the true worth of the car, but it's not nice to take advantage of old ladies. I'd pay $4000 for it.

Depending on location and as close to stock and clean condition of the actual car, typically 10thAE's are selling for $500 to $1000 more than a regular 88 Turbo

It's worth as much as you are willing to pay.

Saying that I will tell you I payed 10k for mine. It was mint condition with 30,000 miles. Paint even looks new. I love it, and I payed the price and I do not believe i payed too much. It's up to you on how much its worth.

i still don't believe there was only 1500 AE's produces, hell there's 2(maybe more) in my town of 40 some thousand people alone and i tend to see people pop up with them quite a lot lately.

course you have to remember how many were wrecked, sitting in fields rotting or just disappeared off the face of the planet..

karack i agree with you i think there were more than 1500
ive seen 2 in junkyards in the last 3 months both stripped i see a new one for sale on craigslist every 3 weeks or so and they usually go cheaper than convertables and turbo 2's from what ive seen on craigslist
o and anybody in the bay area interested theres a convertable with a turbo 2 swap for 1850 right now and full s5 conversion hes been posting for awhile and he dropped his price so he might go even lower i just cant justify buying another car yet

From my FC Turbo Registry page...
http://fc3spro.com/reg.html

ALL 1988 "10th Anniversary" (U.S.) models should have last 6 digits of VIN's...
FROM: ...621393
TO: ...624147
Special thanx to Josh_Ross@computrition.com this information!

If the 10AE's were consecutive in VIN #'s, just by that information, we should have...

2755 of them.

My registry does not show non 10AE's slipping in between those VIN #'s, so I think it's pretty safe to say this is a good guess at what the actual numbers are.

Yeah, I don't find them that rare.
Down here in Honolulu, there have been at least 6 of them that I know of.
That's pretty amazing considering we're in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!

If you get the car, can you measure the placement of the Badges for me? Nobody else seems to want to do it.

Get it for as little as possible. The less you spend on the car total, the more you can put towards things such as first off maintainance and reliability issues. Then go from there. You can put the money saved towards insurance as well. You said she gets it maintained at the dealer regularly, so it will probably not be in need of much. You may want to do moderate modifications then at first such as a FCD, exhaust, and intake. Also an elec. fan, and aluminum radiator would be good upgrades to start with.

Or you can just give me her phone number and I can come get it right now, haha!

dude? wtf man, just print out the KBB page that says what the car is worth, go to her, tell her you'll give you 2500 cash because there's an oil leak, get the effn car and fix it, and you still have enough for lunch. If some old lady owns a 10AE with only 90K im SURE she has other cars and i seriously doubt she hurting finacialy(sp?) so think of it as shes selling a great car for a low price to someone who WILL take care of it instead of some dumb kind who will pay 4-6K and **** it up. no offence to anyone.

My 91 vert had 91K when i bought it, but it had all the paper work, mostly one owner
and ran beautifully and still does even after ive driven it, quite hard at times. and i still paid 3700 vs the 4700 because i told him i would take good care of it, and i have
