Unhappy Vaccum leak = No brakes?

well I have been searching all over the old threads and saw that someone once said that a bad vaccum leak made the brakes go out, well I seem to have a very very very small vaccum leak that was corrected, but my breaks are still not working. well its really the booster that is not working, ive changed the booster 2 times along with the master cylinder and all, but I still have no brakes. can anyone help me out? thanks

Are you getting vaccum to the booster? There's a check valve in the final bit of tube going to the booster. If that check valve is somehow stuck, it could prevent the booster from ever getting engine vacuum.

Do you have *no* brakes, or just no power assisted brakes?

Russ, i have no power assisted brakes. seems that air blows out of the end of that tube but does not suck it back in, is this normal?

uhh... is the check valve in backwards? If you already changed the booster, there's not much it can be. The booster doesn't need a whole lot of vacuum.

it's very likely that the booster can't pull vacuum with the vacuum leak so there is no power brakes. find the vac leak.

I would imagine the engine would stall out with a vac leak that big.

Which way is the air able to flow? From the brake booster to the engine, or from the engine to the brake booster?

The end of the tube attached to the brake booster should be SUCKING. There's a hidden check valve in there (unlabeled, of course). If it's backwards, you'll have problems.
