using a NA hood on a TII
could i use my NA hood on my TII while its snowing outside? i havent been able to find a turboII hood anywhere and its been snowing and i really dont want my engine bay filled up with snow. i was thinking since the NA hood doesnt quiet clear the IC, i could use washers as spacers on the hood brackets to prop the back of the hood up and inch or so like hose hardcore JDM guys... what do you all think? would it work?

Why is it you want to block any air flow to your intercooler exactly? I think Id rather run with out a hood than do what you want to.

And how is washering your hood dangerous?

Got any tarp? You can -sit- the hood over the IC as a way to cover everything, but thats about it. Your best bet is a generic cover not using a hood, unless you have a hood designed to fit.

I drove my t2 for a couple weeks with my old n/a hood until I purchased my t2 hood. It fit fine.

ok i got an idea!
i have heard you complain about the hood deal in the past why dont you just go to a fab or metal shop have them cut a nice clean square in the hood for your IC. then buy a cheapo hoop scoop from an auto parts store till you can find a t ii hood?????? will save you alot of trouble with snow, rain etc.........

YOU STOLE MY AVATAR!!!!!! the NA hood does not clear the intercooler btw......do you have a really large umbrella? like the ones for the deck tables? i used that when it was raining here. Just put it over....no need to hinge anything up IMO.........just as much snow will get in.

i got the hood on. i took the shroud off the stock intercooler and it didnt clear by about a half an inch... so i just kinda convinced it to shut.
my alarm works again!
also: for those who are wondering, i WONT be driving around boosting with a stock TMIC and an NA hood.

Um....why wouldn't you just go with your T2 hood? Whats the difference between snow and rain on your engine? If your engine cant take some water on it, then you have a problem in itself. Snow wont accumulate on a damn engine when its running, engines = hot, snow = melted. So then when the car is stopped, just put something over the hood if its going to snow a lot. A lot easier than swapping hoods IMO

So you won't be driving it??? WHy don't you just rest the damn hood on the car?? It won't do any damage sitting on the IC shroud.
Hasn't this been a running problem for you for a week or so on the forum here? LOL Better get the engineers involved!!
