Using a NA harness on a T2

Alright so. I've searched for a used S4 T2 harness that was in good condition and cheap, and came out with nothing. But Now I have a Great condition NA harness.

I was told that you can use a NA harness with some modifications. I've found how to use a NA harness on a NA car with a T2, but I'm a T2 with a T2 engine, and NA harness.

Can someone please explain what I need to do. I understand its swap several wires, and lenghen a few, but not sure what wires. Also I have low imp injectors, so how can I be sure that I have a low imp harness? to see if I need to solder in risitors or not.

FAQ links for turbo swaps / the link in my sig. I detailed out NA emissions harness conversion for a TII engine. What you're doing would be the same thing, except you'll also end up with an extra alternator plug from the NA harness. This can be ignored, since the alternator will already have a plug from the TII engine harness. You'll also lose the knock sensor hookup, unless you get a little creative. An NA harness won't have a plug for the knock box.

If the harness has centered slots on the injector clips and a plug for the resistor pack, it's from an '86-'87.5 car (low imp.).

I do still have my T2 harness in, that does run the engine, Its fubared though. who ever put the engine in before I got the car squished the harness between a bolt and the uim and melted a bunch of wires. I'm always running into issues, and my idle adjustments do nothing, the O2 is spliced at least one place. more issues, but what more do I need to swap it.

Could I just wire in the plug from the t2 harness for the knock box onto the NA harness,

I'm told I just need to lengthen 2 wires, and swap 2 pins. I looked into your thread and am still confused.

Yes, sort of, but you would have to run a number of new wires. According to the wiring diagram (pg. 50-25), there are 4 wires going into the knock box:

B/W (EM): 12V power from main relay
G/Y (EM): knock sensor
L/G (EM): ECU pin 1R (via the Front (F) harness)
B (EM): ground / pin 3G

You would lose all of these wires, so you would have to tap into some existing wires on the NA EM harness and/or run new ones. But the knock sensor/knock box is pretty useless anyhow. It doesn't actually work that well, so you could also do without it.

Not exactly.

1) The TPS and BAC wires need to be extended. This is a total of 5 wires.
2) The wires on the split air solenoid plug need to be run to the twin-scroll solenoid instead, which will also require some extending/adapting.
3) Pin 1R can be ignored since you'll still have a TII Front (F) harness. This will just dead-end at the F harness / EM harness junction (plug FEM-02). The L/G wire I mentioned earlier (for the knock box) would be here if the EM harness were TII.

I'll scrap the knock box, I have a wideband to moniter my afrs. I do have a twin scroll, but I can take it out again if needed. I'm changing my lim and turbo has to come off anyway. I have my old manifold with twin scroll removed. I have a 3" Dp into 2.5" flange, hollow cat, to an apexi N1 catback so lag shouldn't be too bad.

Alright that all makes sence now. Thanks for all the help.
