Using cucso 6-pt roll bar as a 4-pt.

I recently bought a cusco rollbar for my FC. Has the bars coming from the main hoop going down the A-pillars and attaching to floor, and a bar attaching the 2 by the top of the windshield. Here is a pic of it:

Now here is my problem. The cage is for a RHD FC, and the bar going down to the floor on the drivers side hits the gauge cluster area , and it would be alot more work trying to bend this bar to fit. I know I could have a custom bar bent to fit there, but I dont really "need" those front bars. Would it be just as stong (as any other 4-pt) just leaving those front bars off, and just using the main hoop and the 2 rear bars as a 4-pt?

I'm going to say no. From the angle the rear points are connected, they will not hold the stress of rolling the car. The front part would bend down and pin you in the car.

I think the rear bars mount in the same position as other 4-pt bars such as the autopower. ( I may be wrong)

True, but they don't have the square roof support. If you cut it off then it'd be okay, with it on and no front support i'd say it's dangerous.

The whole top section is a part of the bars that go down the A-pillar. Those bars go all the way back and attach to the main hoop beind the seats. Without them, it is just the hoop, and rear bars. Maybe you can see it clearer in a pic with the padding removed:

I agree with Parastie on this one, i would not JUST remove the front bars, as is you were to roll the car over, that is just asking for the roof hoop to pin you in the car (and cause more body damage). without the front bars its not going to be strong enough. i would remove all the way back the the main hoop, make it more like a 4pt.
I know that it sucks to cut up your nice 6 pt. and make it a little 4 pt. but i think you would be better off.
either that, or take it down to a fabricator and have the problem fixed. it shouldent cost all that much.
My 9 pt cage was a total of $500 installed. (of course this was a nice gutted out car, so the fabricator didnt have to worry about burning carpet, or dash or anything.)

You probably posted before seeing my above post, but as you can see, the front bars seperate right at the hoop, removing the whole roof section.

Haha, no problem, just wanted to get others opinions before I did Also, can someone explain the "points" value to me? What classifies as a "point" in a rollcage/bar? Ive talked to numerous people about it, and have gotten slightly different answers.

as far as i know it means wareever the cage ties into the chasis. see the points that accually weld/bold to the chassis.... you have 6 of them. if you remove the front two, this will make it a 4 pt.

On my car i have 2 in the rear, 2 in the middle, 2 in the front of the cabin, ties to the firewall, and then the front struts,
hard to explain, but my cage all ties intogether. with the front brace this make is a 9 pt.
