Using the ac fan as a radiator cooler...
Anyone ever used the ac fan to cool the rad??? I was just wondering, since I took out the condenser the fan is right there... if ones is not enough, maybe 2???
I think it would cause more drag than extra air personaly. Plus I think its pull only, so you woulnd't be able to use it on the right side of the radiator anyhow. Then again maybe it is push...

If you are going to use an electric fan by itself on the radiator, I'd use something a little bigger. I ordered this from Jegs last month. Its on back order, but they said it should ship out today.

seriously, though, where do most people seem to order black magic fans from? i was curious of what a fan that you had, which broke, costs compared to the ones most everyone raves about.

SO, I went to the Black magic 150 fan. Got it from Jegs (www.jegs.com). I got the blue shrouded one to match my engine bay color.
Cost comparison? Well, the finger chopper runs 99.00, and the Black Magic runs about 219.00. BIG difference in price. As of now it seems like a nice fan. Still havent had it long enough to make a real informed assesment of it.
The A/C fan can be used as a pusher, or puller.
I'm using the A/C fan as an 'extra' e-fan, along with my main VintageAir e-fan.
I does work pretty well. Temperatures drop a bit quicker with it, than when its unplugged.
I used to have the main fan come on at 91C and then the A/C fan at 93C. Now I'm just running them together.

My car isn't a daily driver, and I'll have the haltech turn the fan on based on coolant temp. I'll see how long it last me.
I ran it via thermostatic control. It only ran when needed. Now, a couple of years ago, there was a rash of those fans failing. Maybe they are improved now. Honestly I liked the finger chopper, I just changed to the Black Magic because of what I heardl
I'm going to say it again, Stock Ford Escort fan works the greatest. It's what Kevin Landers recommends on his website and it's what i have installed. Cost me $30 for the fan just had to wire it in. At the moment it's wired in to always be on and the engine is cooler then stock. Has its own shroud and has 2 setting, high and low. I have it on low.
It fits perfectly and fits like it was mean for the car. Cheap guys, it's REALLY cheap.

for $70 more, you can get a new Perma-Cool. i don't know how much i'd trust a used fan. what year Escorts? i guess if it's not that old i wouldn't mind as much. i wonder how reliable they are in the long run.
oh, and j-rat, you recommended 2800cfm "MINIMUM." i have an n/a and a brand new koyo (not even installed yet). i don't think i need a hardcore setup like those running front mounts.

96+ is the year. And for $30 I'd say it's not bad. I've read the threads on other E-Fans and none of them seem to have great reliability.

Yeah local junkyard. I got the idea from http://www.rotaryresurrection.com under emissions removal if you want more info, you might check there to make sure i have the correct year.
thanks again, man.
"Most of the time I get OEM junkyard fans from such cars as Pontiac fiero, ford escort 91-96 (my favorite) and ford Taurus late 80s-mid 90’s. The escort fan in particular fits the stock FB and FC radiators almost perfectly, and the fan itself is big and strong and moves a TON of air."
^^for everyone else to see.
