USDM Turbo badges.

Noticed this a while back: How come on the back it only has the Mazda badge, but the RX-7 sticker, while NA's have normal badging for both. Just a question, take a look.

Only time I've notcied that was because the 86 had RX7 sticker on the back. Evrything else had badges. On that particular car in that picture, maybe he shaved it off?

^^^ Naw, doubt it. Cause when I had my Turbo it had stickers for the "RX-7" but badges for the "Mazda"

S4's have the RX-7 sticker, and S5's are both badges... All my S5's have been fully badged including the TII... All my S4's only had the Mazda badge...

How controversial...
Yes, my RX-7 was a S4, but even my friends S4 base model had the badging.

From first-hand experience I can tell you guys the following:

1986- Both "Mazda" and "RX-7" were decals
1987- "Mazda" switched to a badge but "RX-7" remained a decal
1988-1992 Both "Mazda" and "RX-7" were badges

It is possible that there were mid-year changes, that I do not know for sure.

I saw an S4 vert with both badges but verts came out in 88. My 87TII has an rx-7 decal rather than abadge. I'm just guessing it was an 88+ thing, that white one probably had an S5 conversion.

My early '86 Sport has both in stickers, my old late '88 GXL had both in plastic badges.

Exactly what I have noticed, and it has not been wrong yet at differentiating between years for the S4 cars. None of my buddies have caught on how that I tell an 86 from an 87 and so on yet.

My 87 GXL has two badges but the 87 SE I almost bought had the Rx-7 sticker/ Mazda badge combo. Maybe it also had to do with the option package??

It probably has to do with the build date.
