Do you know that the engine can shoot out 4 quarts in 30 seconds?..

Well, fixed the oil filter, battery didnt seem to have enough of a charge to get the car to crank fast, jumped it to my rx8 and she fired right up. However, I did notice smoke coming from the tranny tunnel during the cranking...however the wire I have run wasnt hot, so that cant be it, I'm thinking that starter is just bad, because when i let off the start section of the ignition it still runs for about .5 seconds.

Sound like a bad starter?

idle is surging up and down and the engine is shaking alot. I know the brake booster vac line is cracked, but i tried plugging that totally and it was still shaking and surging....maybe a vac leak somewhere?

I'm also getting no signal from the oil pressure gauge now. I think it might have disconnected when I was moving the engine to get the tranny out.. can someone be so kind as to point me in the direction of where it is located, and what the plug that connects to it looks like.

You didn't unhook the oil sending unit, you unhooked the little black box that is supposed to bolt on with the slave cylinder, i don't have a clue where it'd be on an orginal auto car though

Anyone have any info to chime in as to why it was smoking from under the car when I tried to crank it for awhile before i jumped it? fired right up the second it was connected to a jumper cable set and my rx8. I think the battery was low from sitting. but mayne the smoking was the starter over working itself because i tried to crank it for too long on low charge?

Also, the car shaking and sputtering at idle...any idea on what that could be? vac lines maybe? it didnt do that pre swap...so I'm thinking some lines might have gotten loose?

Also, whats with the starter still running for about 1/4 to 1/2 a second after I let the key off the START position? could that just be a failing starter?
