Upper and Lower Shifter Bushing the Same?

What is the difference between the upper and lower shifter bushings for the stock 1986 NA shifter (other than colour)? Is it possible to use a spare upper bushing (blue) in place of the lower bushing (white)?

Thanks.

I believe they are made of different materials, but the size and shape are the same. I forget which one is tougher, though. I had 2 blue ones in my FC and never noticed much of a difference.

You can use the lower as the top,etc as the bushing size is really the same. One may have a notch for the pivot pin,but honestly it is shaped the same inside(it sits on the same ball, right?).

Okay, thank you for the quick replies. I couldn't notice a difference between pictures of the upper and lower bushings (besides from colour) but I wasn't sure if I was just missing something. I guess I will give it a try then.

Actually, you should use the white bushing for the bottom as it is the most durable and gets beat on the most. It almost never wears out. You use the blue one on the bottom, it will get beat apart into little pieces within a year just from daily driving wear and tear.
