upper intake manifold, this normal?

I'm doing a rebuild and while tearing my engine apart, I noticed something odd about the upper intake manifold. One of the holes in the middle of each side is plugged. It looks as if someone did this intentionally as it's pretty smooth, so I'm sure it's not just gunked up or anything. Is it supposed to be like this, or is there any reason someone might have done that? I've added some pictures for the visual in case I didn't explain myself too well. Thanks.

looks like turbo LIM to me and if u are talking about the big hole which is on one side and is not on another, then there is everything coorect

there is supposed to be only one hole and thats for water going into turbo CHRA (sp?)

Since rotorhousings are interchangeable (?), they have both same hole but when engine assembled, only one is used for water, other one is blocked out by LIM..

for both sides u need oring

Thanks for the response. Yeah I meant lower intake manifold. Don't know what the heck I was thinking when I originally made the post.
