Question upper intake manifold

I received the wrong upper intake manifold gasket and I would really like to get my T2 back together. I was wondering if it is possible to just omit the gasket and use gasket maker instead.

I have on my own cars but never customers cars, just need to be careful with the sealant sqeezing out.
I have also made them using gasket paper, but that can take a few minutes.

Should work. If it doesn't you'll have a vac leak until you get the correct gasket.

Use copper RTV, let it tack just a bit before installing, I do it on both mating surfaces to ensure no leaks. Make sure you smear it across the whole surface with your finger, to ensure you cover the entire surface, not just squeeze it out of the bottle.

a lot of dealers actually have them in stock. they're only a few dollars. try calling around first. with the RTV, next time you pull the UIM you will have more cleaning to do.

You ain't never lied! I didn't have a gasket when I needed to remove my UIM and I have been using RTV (on top of a 95% intact petrified gasket) for a while now. Its gotten pretty thick and I'm pretty sure its the cause of a vac leak I can't seem to find. It worked great the first few times though

Thanks guys. I do appreciate your help.

There aren't any dealers really close to me. The closest is about 45 minutes away. Still, I think I will call around and see if I can find one. If not, I'll try the copper RTV.
