Any one whose depowered their steering rack please look
I just depowered the rack not looping the lines but actually cut the seal out.
!!!!The rack has not been installed!!!!
I torqued it all to spec but the adjuster nut seems too tight. i backed it off 25 degrees like your supposed to but I cant seem to push the tie rods in and out.
This is by hand!!!!!
I swear I could somewhat easily push the rack from lock to lock before hand and now I cannot. So if you've done this to your rack did you experience the same thing?
thank you.

When i did this, it certainly was not any harder to move. In fact it was easier in most cases.
I think you have an assembly issue. And that preloading spring/bolt is the likely culprit.
Don't fool around with steering. Take it all apart and make sure you did it right.
I did the typical method, welding the quill and removing all the seals. Except i did not remove the springs from the rack end seals. I just made sure there was plenty of teflon/silicon and grease in the assembly. I also left the line nipples on the rack housing and plugged them with welded shut fittings from the lines. This way i could get back in there to spray additional grease/teflon in there.

Adjust the nut when the rack is installed in the car. With the steering wheel in your hand, you will be able to better feel where the adjustment is too tight or too loose, instead of trying to man handle the rack. Don't install the belly pan and you will have access to the nut very easily from under the car. If you didn't weld the pinion gear, you will have some play in your steering.
