Upgrading the cpu

What help, if any, would upgrading the cpu in the base model RX7 to the cpu in the GXL?

Uh nothing. What type of gains are you looking for from a cpu that controls lights and your blinkers?

If you wire in Key lights, the GXL CPU will control them.

And some 87 and 88 (Sport/GTU/Base/SE/ Convertibles w/o P Package) models are already wired, and then plugging in the GXL/Turbo CPU (FB05) will control those so that you then have door key hole and ignition key lights.

i think he means ECU - and "upgrading" it will do do squat....
standalone may help, but other mods must go along with it

Nope he means CPU (body computer), not ECU (engine computer) since the ECU is the same regardless of subtype.

That's some good info. I was wondering about the key light.
